Michael Bridges has said that Erling Haaland is already the greatest striker in Premier League history.
The pundit made this claim about Haaland on The Optus Sport Football Podcast (27/11/2023).
The £51.2 million (Sky Sports) man was praised by Arsene Wenger for how seamlessly he has managed to adapt from the Bundesliga to the Premier League.
Michael Bridges says Erling Haaland is the greatest striker in Premier League history
After the 23-year-old became the fastest player to bag 50 goals in the league’s history on Saturday, Chris Sutton acknowledged how “astonishing” this feat was considering the legendary strikers that have played in England.
The frightening thought for opposition defences is that David James firmly believes the former Borussia Dortmund hitman will only get better and better under Pep Guardiola’s guidance.
But Michael Bridges has gone as far as to claim that Erling Haaland is indeed the greatest Premier League striker of all time.

“People are saying are City better or worse without him? When you are scoring goals like that, I don’t care whether the team is good or not. He is just world-class and obviously the best Premier League striker that we have seen because he’s breaking records at will. And yeah, will he go on to break more records?”
“Of course, if he stays in the league long enough and doesn’t go to Real Madrid or somewhere. I adore him, I love watching him”, he told The Optus Sport Football Podcast.
Where Manchester City fans stand on the Erling Haaland-Sergio Aguero debate would be interesting
As Michael Bridges has made such a bold claim about Erling Haaland, many would likely chime in to give their opinions.
Several opposition fans may side with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, considering he is widely considered as the best player to have ever graced the Premier League.
However, it would be interesting to see whether Manchester City supporters believe that Erling Haaland has surpassed Sergio Aguero.
The numbers do not lie and as a pure goalscorer, Haaland has bettered the Argentine icon so far.
But then again, if Aguero was not as injury-prone throughout his career, perhaps he would have matched the Norwegian’s outrageous goalscoring numbers.
Also, as an overall player, the retired striker certainly had more to his game than Erling Haaland.
But considering goals is the name of the game for any No.9 and Haaland has operated at unprecedented levels in the Premier League, this debate is bound to divide opinion.
