After seeing Mateo Kovacic score his second goal of the game with a cool finish from the edge of the box once he had controlled the ball after receiving a pass from Bernardo Silva, Don Hutchison said this on the matter (via Premier League live blog 16:06).
He said: “The touch from Mateo Kovacic is out of this world. The way he takes it on the left and then guides it in on the right side. He just gets it away from Sander Berge, a beautiful finish, but it’s all about that first touch.”
How did Kovacic perform against Fulham?
Other than scoring the two vital goals to help secure the victory for his side, Kovacic had a fairly underwhelming afternoon in terms of the other areas of his game on this occasion.
For example, in addition to losing possession 14 times in total, the joint-highest in City’s starting XI, the Croatian also lost six of the eight duels he was involved in, got dribbled past twice, didn’t make any key passes and failed to complete the one dribble he attempted according to Sofascore.
