The pair played together at Manchester City for one full campaign during the 2015/2016 season before the latter was sent on loan to Torino soon after Pep Guardiola’s arrival in 2016.

Both Sterling and Hart started for Roy Hodgson’s side at the time in a tournament to forget for the Three Lions, as they got knocked out by Iceland in the Round of 16 in a shock 2-1 defeat.

At City, the English duo played under Manuel Pellegrini in the 2015/2016 season where they finished fourth in the Premier League.

Raheem Sterling started 23 league games in his debut campaign for the Sky Blues while Joe Hart played in 35 matches.

However, the pair won the Carabao Cup that season, beating Liverpool in the final on penalties after the game finished 1-1 after extra time.

As Joe Hart decided to announce his retirement from the beautiful game at the end of the season, Raheem Sterling commented, “top class” on his Instagram post.

A little over two weeks ago, Gael Clichy claimed that the Celtic number one is the best goalkeeper he has ever played with in his career.

Vincent Kompany also previously hailed the former Shrewsbury Town shotstopper as “unbelievable” and emphasised how much of a “real leader” he had become over time at the Etihad Stadium.

Now-Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford described the 36-year-old as his “hero” on Instagram in July last year.

Joe Hart had a wonderful career and one hopes he enjoys his retirement after all his exploits, especially in a Manchester City shirt.
