Rayan Cherki seems keen on becoming a Manchester City player in the summer.

Cherki confirmed his imminent move to Manchester City after starring for France in their 5-4 loss against Spain, which highlighted his desire to play under Pep Guardiola.

Furthermore, Cherki claimed he can play under Guardiola — which indicates that he is ready to take the next step in his career.

Manchester City fans must be excited about the fact that such a tremendous talent wishes to play his football at the Etihad Stadium.

Rayan Cherki revealed his “dream” was to play for Real Madrid

However, Rayan Cherki might not have expected to potentially sign for City before they pursued his signature.

While Cherki is waiting to join Manchester City now, his dream has always been to play for Real Madrid.

In 2021, the youngster told Onze Mondial: “The perfect route would be this: to make history at Lyon, then make history at many other clubs and therefore make history in football.”

Cherki, who was lauded by Alexandre Lacazette continued: “We all know that my dream club is Real Madrid. Joining the biggest club in the world would be wonderful. That’s the perfect route, the one I have in mind. I get up every morning for that: to achieve my dreams.”

What Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe said about Cherki

Considering Real Madrid tend to sign the players they lay their eyes on, perhaps Manchester City fans might fear that Cherki could be destined for a move to the Spanish capital.

However, Real Madrid were targeting Erling Haaland as well, who went on to sign a contract until 2034 at the Etihad Stadium last year.

But, Kylian Mbappe has always rated Cherki from a young age and if he does shine at City, he would perhaps want to play alongside him at the Santiago Bernabeu as well.

Mbappe raved about Cherki ahead of France’s clash against Germany as well, saying: “We tried to support him as best we could so that he felt like himself and did what he did on the pitch. His qualities are obvious, we knew it, we never doubted it. He will bring us what he needs. Now, everything starts with his head, we wanted him to feel good so that his feet speak for themselves.”
