Gianluigi Donnarumma was awarded The Yashin Trophy during the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The 26-year-old emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his final season at Paris Saint-Germain and as a result, he was a deserved recipient of the accolade.

At Manchester City as well, the Italian has impressed – with Mikel Arteta lauding Donnarumma’s display against Arsenal as well.

Even Rodri admitted Donnarumma makes him feel calm on the pitch due to his commanding presence and perhaps next year, the former AC Milan goalkeeper could win the award once again if he continues to impress.

Rayan Cherki reacts to Gianluigi Donnarumma winning The Yashin Trophy

Rayan Cherki reacted to his Manchester City teammate winning the award on social media.

The former PSG number one took to Instagram to celebrate his accomplishment.

The man from Castellammare di Stabia captioned his post: “A special night in Paris.”

Cherki left three heart-eyed emojis on Donnarumma’s post, showing support for his teammate for winning The Yashin Trophy.

How many times has Gianluigi Donnarumma won the Yashin Trophy?

The decorated shot-stopper deserved to be applauded for being officially recognised as the best goalkeeper in European football.

Last season, it could be argued that in his absence, PSG would not have won the treble.

Donnarumma has won The Yashin Trophy two times, namely in 2025 as well as in 2021 – and Cherki would also like to win individual awards one day.

Cherki hopes to win the Ballon d’Or in the future and his teammates will be striving to help the Frenchman achieve one of his long-term ambitions at the Etihad Stadium.
