Manchester City midfielder Rayan Cherki is set to return to full fitness soon.

Cherki was expected to be sidelined for two months but journalist Loic Tanzi has reported that his quadriceps injury has fully “healed.”

Tanzi also claimed that the French international could be named in City’s squad against Brentford in early October or even against Brentford before the international break.

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Cherki and so are Manchester City supporters as they are celebrating his impending return.

Man City fans are ecstatic as Rayan Cherki is set to return from injury soon

One Manchester City fan reacted to Rayan Cherki’s imminent return to the pitch by simply writing: “Finally going to see Rayan Cherki ball, let’s go! Get in!”

Another City supporter predicted Pep Guardiola’s men to firmly be in the race for the Premier League title as the 21-year-old is set to play for them shortly: “Title charge back on.”

A third Manchester City fan revealed he cannot wait to see Phil Foden and Cherki in the same side, writing: “I need to see that Foden and Cherki link up ASAP [as soon as possible].”

A fourth Sky Blues supporter admitted he has missed watching the youngster, stating: “Great news. Missing watching a bit of Cherki magic.”

However, a fifth fan claimed that Cherki’s injury should be allowed the chance to heal until after the international break before he returns to the pitch: “He should spend at least a month out before we’ll be hearing that doctors miscalculated and blah blah blah later on.”

A sixth and final fan believes that this Manchester City side will truly be at their best with both Cherki and Foden occupying central areas in tandem, as he wrote: “The ceiling of this team is one that allows both Foden and Cherki to access central zones on ball. So sure of that. Think it’s madness when people suggest it’s one or the other.”

The former Lyon wonderkid will be delighted by how much of a fan favourite he has become at the Etihad Stadium despite making only two appearances in the Premier League for the club.

Why Rodri will be very excited about Rayan Cherki’s injury return

Much like Manchester City fans, one man who may be over the moon about Cherki looking set to return to playing football is Rodri.

Rodri compared Cherki to Riyad Mahrez, a player he famously had a special connection with on the pitch.

The Spaniard assisted four of the Algerian’s goals at City, as it was was a trademark feature of the midfielder’s game to pick out the winger’s runs.

If Cherki makes the same runs as Mahrez, his synergy with Rodri could be the dynamic duo opposition defences would despise coming up against.
