Manchester City are about to see one of their key players make a move to Spain.

The player in question is Julian Alvarez, who the Manchester club have agreed a deal worth €95m (£81m) to sell to Atletico Madrid.

With that move set to be announced in the coming days, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding one player currently in Madrid who could be on his way to Manchester.

Real Madrid could offer Rodrygo to Manchester City after Julian Alvarez exit

A recent report from Give Me Sport had this to say on the matter.

It said: “There is an increasing expectation that Rodrygo is on course to be offered to Manchester City, according to GMS sources, as Alvarez’s impending move to Real Madrid’s rivals has resulted in last season’s Champions League winners spotting a potential window of opportunity to offload the 23-year-old.

“GMS sources have been informed that Rodrygo is eager to fight for his place in Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, despite the likes of Kylian Mbappe providing further competition heading into the new season, but Manchester City are poised to have a chance to reach an agreement as they look to replace Alvarez.”

Rodrygo has been on City’s radar previously

Earlier this year, it was reported by Marca that City and Pep Guardiola were interested in signing the winger, who Real value at €120m (£102m) according to Mundo Deportivo (via Forbes).

However, Fabrizio Romano then claimed that the player has no interest in leaving the Spanish club this summer.

Even though Guardiola is apparently a big fan of Rodrygo and look to be saying goodbye to Alvarez, we feel that the fact City have wide attacking options such as Savinho, Oscar Bobb, Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish, we feel that a potential move for the Real star shouldn’t be something the Blues concern themselves with this month.
