A majority of elite players across world football are often linked with a move to Real Madrid and Rodri is no different.

At one point, it was claimed that Real Madrid backed themselves to sign Rodri.

However, Real Madrid are not looking to sign Rodri this summer.

Some Los Blancos fans were delighted about the news, while others either believe the club has bigger priorities or do not believe the speculation in the first place.

Real Madrid fans react to Rodri transfer being off the table

One Real Madrid fan claimed that a move for Rodri would have been a waste of the Spanish giants’ resources, considering they have younger defensive midfielders like Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni in their ranks, explaining: “That’s the news we all want to hear. Because what the point of spending €100 million (£87 million) or any money for Rodri when Real Madrid already got Camavinga and Tchouameni for the DM [central defensive midfield] position? Besides that Rodri is 29 years old and also had an ACL last year.”

Another fan urged Los Merengues to prioritise other signings instead this summer, claiming: “Just go and get [Angelo] Stiller and [Ibrahima] Konate.”

Considering Florentino Perez budgeted £87 million for Rodri, a third Real Madrid fan claimed that he was always confident that the club would not splash such a massive fee on a 29-year-old, writing: “I said this when the news started. Real Madrid will never make a €100 million for recent ACL player and age of 29 years. They will throw such amount on a Galactico who’s younger.”

A fourth fan simply reacted to the news by writing: “We don’t need this imposter” while posting images to imply that Vinicius Jr deserved to beat him to the Ballon d’Or last year.

Another Real Madrid supporter reacted similarly, as he simply wrote: “There can be no better news, let’s go!”

Finally, a sixth Real Madrid fan claimed that once a player suffers an ACL injury like Rodri has, they tend to never hit the same heights again and it would be best not to try and sign him next summer as well, stating: “Neither this summer, nor any summer. Once a player suffers that kind of injury, he could suffer the same old injury later again and again and again and his latest physical complaint during [the] Al-Hilal match was the evidence.”

City supporters had their fair share to say about the news as well.

Man City fans say how they feel about Rodri not joining Real Madrid

One City fan reacted to Xabi Alonso’s side’s reported quest to sign Rodri being off the table by claiming: “Non-story not happening-of-the-close season so far. Anybody else they’re not considering buying because we’d love to read about them.”

A second Manchester City fan claimed that after how several Real Madrid players took shots at Rodri after he won the Ballon d’Or, they have ruined their chances of ever signing him: “They shouldn’t ever consider it because they’ll be wasting their time. The Ballon d’or fiasco surely put Rodri off ever considering moving to them.”

A third Sky Blues claimed that regardless of Real Madrid’s view, the player was not up for sale, writing: “He was never for sale anyway. They can consider whatever they want.”

Considering Real Madrid have poached big names from elite clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool such as Kylian Mbappe and Trent Alexander-Arnold respectively, Manchester City should be relieved that they are not trying to lure Rodri to the Spanish capital summer.
