After the latest injury suffered by Manchester City maestro Kevin De Bruyne, Pep Guardiola is now especially keen on the signing of Lucas Paqueta.
This comes from talkSPORT, after it was reported on Saturday that City had agreed terms with the West Ham United midfielder.
With Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne expected to be sidelined through injury for a while, Pep Guardiola is desperate to see Lucas Paqueta signed, sealed and delivered at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola personally keen on Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City transfer after Kevin De Bruyne injury
Branded as ‘mind-boggling’ by Declan Rice (via Evening Standard), the 25-year-old remains at West Ham for the time being, starting and arguably being his side’s standout performer in their 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.
It has been claimed that the two-time treble-winner has ‘always been a fan’ of the Europa Conference League winner, and was especially keen on his arrival in 2022 as a replacement for Bernardo Silva.
Now, it has been revealed that Manchester City are ‘pushing’ to sign Lucas Paqueta, with Pep Guardiola being of the view that he is a ‘priority signing’ after the injury sustained by Kevin De Bruyne.

However, David Moyes and Co. are only willing to sell him for a fee in excess of £80 million.
It is now mandatory to sign Lucas Paqueta for the treble-winners
While it has been reported in the past that Pep Guardiola fancied a move for Lucas Paqueta, the fact that Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden could have played as the creative midfielders for Manchester City meant a number of fans were not especially bothered by his arrival.
Now, with City losing their outright best creator for a potentially sizable chunk of games, this team may become far too dependent on Foden to conjure something out of nothing.
Paqueta, however could change that with the magic he brings in the final third and his excellent dribbling to help share the creative burden with the Englishman.
With Manchester City already having a small squad and not having lost their best player, the need for an addition has become crucial.
