It has been reported that Liverpool are considering making a move for Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips in January.

This comes from Sky Germany as the £42 million (The Athletic) man’s future is up in the air.

Now, perhaps Liverpool are looking to capitalise on the uncertainty around Kalvin Phillips’ situation at Manchester City by trying to sign him in January.

Liverpool looking to complete Kalvin Phillips transfer in January

Branded as ‘intelligent’ by Pep Guardiola, the 27-year-old has had a torrid time of things since signing for the Sky Blues.

In fact, it was reported on Sunday that the Catalan tactician has informed the higher-ups at the club that the winter window is the perfect time to let Phillips bid farewell to the Etihad Stadium.

Now, it has indeed been claimed that Liverpool are monitoring Kalvin Phillips’ situation at Manchester City and remain keen on signing him in January.

Whether the move comes to fruition is a question mark as one doubts City would sell one of their two main rivals for the Premier League title a top-quality midfielder.

Kalvin Phillips looks likely to leave, even if it is not to Jurgen Klopp’s side

Even if Manchester City decide against selling the treble-winner to Liverpool, it seems more than likely that he will be playing elsewhere in January.

After all, even Fabrizio Romano revealed on Saturday that both the former Leeds talisman and City consider it ‘very likely’ that an exit is on the cards after the New Year.

In addition, it has been reported that while Phillips’ intention is to get as much playing time as he can until the rest of the year, his plan remains to become a starter at another club in 2024.

Ultimately, the move does not seemed to have worked out and it is best for all parties involved to move on.
