It has been reported that Manchester City-linked left-back Ian Maatsen is set to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window.
This comes from TEAMtalk after it was claimed in September that City were interested in his signature.
Now, it seems like Manchester City could finally secure his services as Ian Maatsen may be readying himself to leave Chelsea in January.
Manchester City target Ian Maatsen set for Chelsea exit in January
Branded as ‘clever’ by Andy Myers (via Chelsea’s official website), the Dutchman’s reputation skyrocketed after emerging as one of the standout players for Vincent Kompany’s Burnley last season.
So much so that Pep Guardiola aims to sign the 21-year-old as well, as per a report last Thursday.
Now, it has been revealed that Manchester City are keeping tabs on the situation surrounding Ian Maatsen, as he seems to have decided to leave Chelsea in January.

To add to that, Pep Guardiola’s men are willing to get a deal done, if they deem it worthy after having had a chat with his representatives back in July.
Ian Maatsen would be an astute signing for the treble-winners
If Manchester City were to sign Ian Maatsen from Chelsea in January, he would arrive as the club’s one and only natural left-back option.
Currently, both Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake are City’s go-to picks in the role and while the pair are excellent at it, they are centre-backs by trade.
In case Pep Guardiola wishes to add flair down the left flank and natural width, he could bank on Ian Maatsen to do so.
Additionally, the youngster is also capable of playing in an inverted role, which he perhaps might have to at some point if his move to the Etihad Stadium comes to fruition.
Considering how talented Maatsen is as well, the prospect of him being coached by Guardiola is an exciting one.
