It has been reported that Pep Guardiola has personally requested Manchester City to wrap up a transfer for PSG’s Achraf Hakimi.

This comes from MARCA via Sport Witness after the treble-winners were speculated with being open to paying a sizable fee to sign the PSG defender.

It seems like Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is in no mood to waste any time and is keen on lining up a replacement for Kyle Walkerr in Achraf Hakimi.

A rebuild may be on the cards at the Parc des Princes, and perhaps the Moroccan captain could be a part of a fire sale that could even see Kylian Mbappe end up at Real Madrid.

Erling Haaland, who shared a dressing room with the adventurous wing-back branded him as a ‘high level’ player and named him alongside Riyad Mahrez as one of the two best African players he has ever played with.

Interestingly, it has been claimed that one of the reasons why Kyle Walker is interested in an exit is due to being aware of City’s desire to sign the 24-year-old, described as ‘elite’ by Pain In The Arsenal.

Unlikely that the Sky Blues sign Achraf Hakimi

While Achraf Hakimi is considered as one of the best right-backs in the world, it is unlikely that Manchester City sign him and that may be down to Pep Guardiola himself, contrary to the initial report.

This is due to the fact that The Athletic journalist Sam Lee had previously revealed that the Spaniard intends to stick with his same setup from last season that involves four centre-backs.

It is this insistence on playing ball-playing defenders that especially paid dividends to Guardiola and City in Europe as well as in their treble triumph.

To sacrifice that philosophy after the success it has yielded to sign such an attack-minded wing-back would be quite a shock and seems unlikely.
