It has been reported that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on signing Federico DiMarco in the summer.

So much so that Pep Guardiola believes Federico DiMarco would be a cracking signing for Manchester City.

Branded as one of the ‘top left-backs in Europe’ by journalist Zach Lowy, the Italian international propelled himself into such conversations after his electric displays last season.
Even in the Champions League final against City, the flying full-back was a menace and after the contest, he notably acknowledged Ederson’s brilliant display.
Now, it has been revealed that Pep Guardiola has admired Federico DiMarco for months and has personally identified him as a transfer target for Manchester City.
To add to that, the Catalan tactician is believed to have been impressed by his performance in Istanbul against the Sky Blues in June.
Interestingly, it is claimed that City would be happy to grant Guardiola his wish next summer, as they believe a £52.4 million offer could be enough to tempt Inter Milan to sell the 25-year-old.
Federico DiMarco does not fit the system as much
While Federico DiMarco is a splendid player, would he really fit the current Pep Guardiola way at Manchester City is the question.
The Italian is a left wing-back rather than a traditional full-back and in a City side who are renowned for their solidity at the back, this may be a similar move to playing a defensively suspect left-back like Joao Cancelo.
On the other hand, the likes of Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake or even Manuel Akanji are much more reliable options at left-back.
As a result, one questions why he seems to have been handpicked as a potential addition by Pep Guardiola.
