A report has revealed that David Moyes’ interest in signing Kalvin Phillips stems from as far back as May 2018.
It seems like Phillips’ torrid time at the Etihad Stadium is set to come to an end, at least on a temporary basis.
After all, it was claimed that the 28-year-old is set to undergo his medical on Wednesday as he prepares to sign for David Moyes’ West Ham side on loan.
David Moyes has wanted to sign Kalvin Phillips for almost six years
In August, it was revealed that Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff were stunned by Kalvin Phillips’ level in training.
To the extent that they feared that the Englishman may never be able to grasp the tactical side of things at Manchester City, which seems to have been the case as time has passed.
But now, it has been reported that even when David Moyes was out of work between May 2018 and December 2019, he had his sights set on signing Kalvin Phillips, as per a report by The Athletic.

As Moyes was preparing for his next managerial job in football, he was targeting players and Phillips was one of the players he had intended to sign.
Kalvin Phillips will benefit from the West Ham manager’s fondness for his game
As Kalvin Phillips looks set to sign for West Ham on loan, he could likely benefit from how much David Moyes seems to rate him.
To say the former Leeds United talisman was on the periphery of things at Manchester City would be an understatement and naturally, for an established midfielder such as himself, it would be natural if his confidence has been impacted.
But at the London Stadium, David Moyes must surely have a plan in place for Kalvin Phillips in his side as well, which could lead to an upturn in his displays as well as his career trajectory.
