Back in March, Tuttomercatoweb reported that Manchester City wanted to snap up Atalanta defender Robin Gosens.
It was suggested that City made contact over a deal in January, exploring a move to lure Gosens over to the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola was seemingly keen on Gosens, believing that he could solve Manchester City’s elusive left back problem.
Benjamin Mendy isn’t the player he was, sadly, and whilst Oleksandr Zinchenko has fared well this season, City could improve there.
Gosens has proven his quality with Atalanta, racking up 12 goals and eight assists this season, meaning he could be an exciting addition for City.
He turns 27 this summer and looks set to play for Germany at the European Championships, but City could now miss out on his signature.
SPORT claim that Barcelona are ‘focused’ on signing Gosens to bolster their left back options, and would need to pay up to €40million (£35million) for the former Heracles Almelo ace.
Barca are already snapping up City legend Sergio Aguero, and if they beat City to Gosesns, boss Guardiola may be cursing his boyhood club.
