Manchester City have seen numerous players leave the club throughout the summer transfer window.

In addition to loaning out numerous players such as Callum Doyle and Mahamadou Susoho, City have also cashed in on players such as Julian Alvarez and Sergio Gomez.

Another player the club have sold this summer is Micah Hamilton, who recently joined Middlesbrough on a permanent four-year deal.

Now though, after being an unused substitute in Middlesbrough’s recent opening game of the new Championship season against Swansea City, some interesting financial details have come to light regarding the deal the Blues have signed off on for Hamilton to join his new side.

How much Man City’s buy-back option is for Micah Hamilton

A recent report from The Athletic had this to say on the matter.

It said: “Micah Hamilton‘s move from Manchester City to Middlesbrough was in the works for a few weeks before it was finally announced on Friday.

“The Athletic has learned finer details of the agreement between the clubs, with a fee of £2m being paid by the Championship club and a further £1.7m due in performance-related add-ons.

“The Premier League champions also included a buy-back option in excess of £15m, which is linked to a matching rights clause akin to Jaden Philogene’s agreement when he left Aston Villa to join Hull, before returning this summer.”

Hamilton could be a future star

During his time at City, the 20-year-old made 72 appearances for the club’s academy, scoring 18 goals and delivering 17 assists along the way.

Then in three senior games with Pep Guardiola’s side, Hamilton, who said back in January that he’s a big fan of Kevin De Bruyne, scored one goal and supplied one assist.

Even though City let the winger leave on a permanent basis, the fact that they have a buy-back option in his deal with Middlesbrough shows how they believe he has what it takes to possibly become someone they want back at the club in the future.
