Report: UCL giants may now actually pull out of race to sign ‘smart’ £43m Man City player

It has been reported that PSG no longer consider the signing of Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva as a major priority.

This comes from French Football Weekly, as the £43 million (BBC Sport) man continues to be linked with a move away from Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, it seems like Bernardo Silva may have to now rule PSG out as a potential destination for him ahead of next season.

PSG no longer keen on Bernardo Silva transfer

Branded as ‘so smart’ by Kevin De Bruyne, the 28-year-old’s plans for the future remain uncertain, with the player himself recently admitting that he intends to make a final decision sooner rather than later.

For the longest time, it has seemed like Paris, Barcelona or a move to Saudi Arabia are the three potential destinations where the treble-winner could play his football next after departing City.

However, it has now been revealed that Luis Enrique, who is set to be appointed as the next PSG boss may be against the idea of signing Bernardo Silva.

The crucial reason behind this call could be that the Spanish manager intends to have his entire squad for the following campaign ready to go on pre-season to Japan on July 22nd.

As a move for the Portuguese international may not be completed by then, a transfer may now not be on the cards.

A huge blessing for Manchester City if he ends up staying

If PSG indeed decide not to sign Bernardo Silva this summer, Manchester City would understandably be over the moon.

For starters, the task of finding a replacement for one of the most multifaceted players in world football is easier said than done.

To add to that, it would be a seismic blow from a Sky Blues perspective to lose both Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva in the same summer.

The new signing would not only be tasked with replacing the latter but also instantly acclimatising to Pep Guardiola’s methods, which tends not to be the case in most instances.

As a result, Bernardo Silva’s potential stay at the Etihad Stadium would prove to be a huge blessing for the club.
