Richards Keys has written about Pep Guardiola after Manchester City recorded a 3-2 win over Newcastle on Saturday.
The 66-year-old made the comments when writing on his blog.
So, what did Richard Keys write about Pep Guardiola and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
What Keys said about Guardiola
Well, the man from Coventry claims he does not agree with praise aimed at the Spaniard for his decision to bring Kevin De Bruyne on.
Keys wrote: “What a comeback by City at Newcastle. Top marks – although the Toon were out on their feet after 60 minutes. It was great to see De Bruyne back on the field, but introducing him when he did doesn’t make Guardiola a genius. What other coach in the world wouldn’t have made the same decision if they’d had the Belgian sitting behind them? Let’s keep some perspective please.”
Very strange comments – to say the least.

We haven’t actually seen much praise at all for Guardiola’s substitution.
In fact, almost all of the praise has been aimed at De Bruyne for his remarkable 21-minute cameo, in which his goal and assist turned things around for Manchester City.
Nobody has heralded Guardiola for the switch – as Keys seems to believe they have – so his anger at this particular situation is very odd.
Guardiola has to be careful with De Bruyne at Manchester City
While the 52-year-old will surely be tempted to start De Bruyne in Manchester City’s next game, the FA Cup clash against Tottenham, he must be careful.

The Belgium international has just returned from a very serious hamstring injury – which has troubled him for some time – and with his 33rd birthday approaching in June, Manchester City cannot overload him.
It would be wise to start De Bruyne on the bench against Spurs and give him another small runout for 30 minutes or so, to gradually rebuild his match fitness back up to 100% – after all, any setback for the Belgian would be heartbreaking, so sensible decisions must take precedence over impulsive temptations.
