As Manchester City schooled Real Madrid in a 4-0 demolition job, Rio Ferdinand lavished praise on to Jack Grealish.

The former Aston Villa attacker was unplayable on the night, ripping Dani Carvajal to shreds from minute one to 93.

While Bernardo Silva is likely to be applauded for his brilliant brace for Manchester City against Real Madrid, Rio Ferdinand was full of praise for Jack Grealish.

Rio Ferdinand raves about Jack Grealish as Manchester City beat Real Madrid

The Manchester United legend has praised the England international previously, who has managed to turn things around at the Etihad Stadium after a difficult debut season.

Both defensively and offensively, the 27-year-old was simply different gravy and apart from Bernardo Silva, he may have a case for having been the best player on the pitch.

After Manchester City took apart Real Madrid, Rio Ferdinand gave Jack Grealish a ton of credit and rightfully so.

“Jack Grealish has to take some credit. A lot of people questioned him in his first season. He’s become one of their mainstays and most important players in big games”, he said live on BT Sport’s Champions League coverage.

Rio Ferdinand honed in on why he is so key to this Manchester City side, as was on show against Real Madrid, saying, “He might not score the goals that people are asking for but it’s the amount of players that he draws to him that creates space elsewhere on the pitch.”

“He’s a phenomenally talented, educated footballer. He came here as an individual, he’s become a team player, both sides of the game as well.”

Rio Ferdinand could not be more bang on about the Englishman, who proved once again up against Real Madrid that he has well and truly arrived at Manchester City.

Like most Pep Guardiola signings, it has taken him a season to adapt but the leap he has taken has been extraordinary to witness.
