Rio Ferdinand has said that Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne should be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame one day.
Branded as ‘strong’ and a ‘top player’ by Marc Cucurella, who considers the £54 million (Guardian) man as the toughest opponent he has ever faced, his legendary status in English football cannot be questioned.
Rio Ferdinand, who himself was named in the Premier League Hall of Fame has claimed that Kevin De Bruyne should join him one day.
Rio Ferdinand makes Premier League Hall of Fame case for Kevin De Bruyne
So far, the Sky Blues have two inductees as part of the illustrious list, namely, Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany.
Yaya Toure too was one of the nominees and could accompany midfielders like Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane as part of an esteemed group of players.
When quizzed about which current player deserves to have a berth in the Premier League Hall of Fame, Rio Ferdinand named Kevin De Bruyne.
“He’s the quickest to 100 assists. For that reason alone, he deserves to be in there. As a player, what a wonderful footballer! Won multiple trophies but has been integral to all of those trophies as well”, he said, as relayed by Manchester Evening News.

Of course, the Belgian captain cannot do so currently as he is still an active player.
However, there is a case for Kevin De Bruyne to be the greatest midfielder to have ever graced the Premier League, which makes Rio Ferdinand correct about him deserving a spot in the list.
Be it in terms of his actual impact, longevity or league titles, De Bruyne ticks each and every box to be considered a shoo-in as part of the best players the league has ever seen.
It’s only right that the Manchester City icon was added to this list of iconic figures once he hangs up his boots.
