Rodri pinpoints the one Man City game that had him feeling ‘desperate’ after season-long injury blow

Manchester City have been dealt an unfortunate amount of injury blows this season.

The biggest and most severe of their injury issues saw Rodri get forced off the pitch during City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium back in September.

Pep Guardiola then revealed that Rodri would be out injured for the rest of the season having had to undergo surgery to fix his ACL.

On a brighter note, Rodri recently won the 2024 Ballon d’Or as a result of his efforts for club and country last season.

Despite losing their key midfielder, City are still unbeaten across all competitions as they look to win some more trophies in this latest campaign.

Now though, the Spaniard has opened up about his recovery and how his side have fared in their endeavours on the pitch in his absence.

Rodri says one Man City game really stressed him out

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Rodri said this about his injury recovery and which recent City game had him stressing out the most.

He said: “I know how important it is to recover well with the amount of games we have. It would be a mistake to come back sooner just because I want to hurry up.

“The team is doing great, they are together and being resilient. They definitely made me feel desperate with the game at Wolves. I was at home and very close to start running.”

City had a close call against Wolves

City walked away with three points after beating Wolves 2-1 at Molineux, although it was not an easy ride for the Blues.

Not for the first time this season, City found themselves 1-0 down within 10 minutes as Jorgen Strand Larsen gave Gary O’Neil’s side an early lead.

After Josko Gvardiol equalised before half-time, a very late winner from John Stones eventually secured the win for the away side after a dramatic VAR check.

Given the nature of this game and how it panned out in such a dramatic fashion, Rodri probably wasn’t the only person stressing out about this particular match.

After the game at Molineux, Guardiola compared City’s late winner to how Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool used to do the same thing on numerous occasions.
