Manchester City saw Pep Guardiola recently sign a contract extension at the club.
During the October international break, with his contract set to expire in June, Guardiola admitted he hadn’t decided his future at City.
Then a month later, the Catalan signed up for an extra two years at the Etihad Stadium, taking his tenure with the Blues to 11 years.
This then led to many City fans reacting to Guardiola’s contract update after the club officially announced the news on Thursday night.
In his latest press conference ahead of City’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur, Guardiola said it took him two hours to agree the deal.
Following this big announcement, one of the key figures in City’s squad has now shared his thoughts on Guardiola’s contract extension.

Rodri reacts to Pep Guardiola contract news
In a recent interview shared on the official Man City website, Rodri opened up about Guardiola and his new contract extension.
He said: “We know what he is able to do and the relevance he had in my game and the development since I came here. It’s unbelievable.
“He made me a footballer of another dimension in terms of understanding the game and in this sense, he has the ability to improve the players in this way.
“It’s exciting, it’s unbelievable. It’s great for me, for the club, for the City fans, for the Premier League I would say and for England in general.
“He’s one of the best and he’s with us; you always want the best. We’re like a family, we’ve been six years with this one and with the players even more. We know exactly what we want from each other and this makes the process to go again.
“To feel stable is the most important thing in football and with him we feel stable and it’s great for the club. Great news.”
Guardiola has turned Rodri into a world-beater
City signed Rodri back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth a reported fee of £62m.
Since then, the midfielder has gone on to make 260 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, scoring 26 goals, providing 30 assists and winning multiple trophies along the way.
| Rodri – Premier League Season | Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists | Minutes Played |

After playing a key role in seeing City win their fourth consecutive Premier League title last season and then helping Spain win the Euros in Germany over the summer, Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
This showcases the evolution the Spaniard has been on since his arrival at the Manchester club and how he’s grown into a world-beater under Guardiola.
Having enjoyed such a successful time with Guardiola at City, it’s easy to see why Rodri is delighted to see the 53-year-old extend his tenure at the club to 2027.
