Manchester City are closing in on the signing of AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders.
Having experienced a tough 2024/25 campaign, Pep Guardiola is keen to add four or five new faces to his squad this summer and that has resulted in a busy start to the current transfer window.
Man City’s move for Reijnders is very close to getting over the line, with just the midfielder’s medical left to be completed, before the 26-year-old becomes the first new addition to the Spanish coach’s midfield revamp.
Man City are expected to follow this signing by adding Rayan Cherki to Guardiola’s squad before the FIFA Club World Cup, who is the talk of the football world at present following his very impressive cameo in France’s recent match against Spain.
More stars are expected to follow when the transfer window opens again in July, and Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman has shared the transfer advice he gave to Man City ahead of the summer.

Ronald Koeman told Pep Guardiola about Tijjani Reijnders
The Netherlands are preparing to play Finland on Saturday night, and ahead of the World Cup qualifier, Koeman told a press conference that Guardiola called him months ago to ask about Dutch players.
The former Barcelona teammate of the Man City manager has admitted that he recommended several stars to the 54-year-old, but it seems he took a particular liking to Reijnders.
“That’s a great step for him,” Koeman told Dutch newspaper VI about Reijnders’ move to Manchester City this summer.
“They called me a few months ago. I’ve mentioned more, but it seems to be limited to one,” the Dutch boss said with a wink. “Tijjani has developed very well.”
It has been reported that Reijnders will undergo his Man City medical on Sunday, which was also confirmed by Koeman, with the Netherlands boss telling the press that the midfielder will fly to Manchester and back on Sunday morning before the Dutch team play Malta on Tuesday.
The former Barcelona boss was not the only person speaking about Reijnders, as Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo also had some things to say about Man City’s new midfielder.

Cody Gakpo expects Tijjani Reijnders to do well at Man City
Should Reijnders’ move to Man City get over the line in the coming days, the midfielder will come up against several of his Dutch friends in the Premier League, with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Gakpo being just a few.
Gakpo was asked about the 26-year-old’s move to Man City by the press on Friday, and the Liverpool star admitted that he thinks the AC Milan star will do well at the Etihad Stadium.
“He has already proven it at AC Milan. He can now show it at Manchester City. I definitely think he can do it. Just hope he doesn’t do too well,” laughed Gakpo via VI.
The signing of Reijnders is certainly an exciting one for Man City as the midfielder is exactly what Guardiola needs in the middle of the park, as the Manchester club lacked a physical presence at the heart of their team last season.
