Manchester City headed into the November international break in the worst form they’ve ever experienced under Pep Guardiola.
Specifically, having played four away matches on the trot in the Carabao Cup, Premier League and Champions League, City lost all four.
Having seen his side lose three in a row for the first time since 2018 following their 4-1 defeat to Sporting CP, Pep Guardiola then lost four consecutive matches for the first time in his managerial career.
This came during last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion where the Citizens blew a 1-0 first-half lead by conceding two goals in the space of five minutes during the second half.
After this defeat, Guardiola admitted City needed the international break given their dismal run of form and results.
With the dust having now settled on the defeat at Brighton, one pundit and former top-flight star, who knows what it takes to win titles, has pinpointed one particular thing he saw from City that should cause everyone at the club great concern.

Roy Keane exposes big Man City issue after Brighton defeat
Reflecting on City’s defeat at the hands of the Seagulls in a recent edition of Stick to Football, Roy Keane gave this verdict on what concerned him specifically about the Manchester club’s performance on the day.
He said: “City were awful. My worry with City the other day – and they have been on this road before they can bounce back, of course – is the lack of intensity.
“The first goal, everyone looking going where’s that? Brighton were like Man City.
“Rodri is a loss because you look at the defending for the second goal, for all his brilliance, they missed his presence in the middle of the park. Big strong boy. He’s a huge loss.
“Isn’t it great though? To see Pep and these teams struggling. It’s like Arsenal with [Martin] Odegaard, however good a coach you are, when you miss your top players you are struggling.”
Ruben Dias welcomes City doubters
Having missed the club’s past few games through injury, Ruben Dias addressed City’s form, giving this confident retort regarding potential doubters about the Blues.
He said: “I think if there’s a fact we can talk about, it’s that we do love it when people start doubting us so we let them talk.”

While City supporters will be delighted with Dias’ confidence and bring-it-on attitude when it comes to potential doubters about the team and their ability to get their season back on track, it’s clear that they do have problems to deal with.
With Keane highlighting how City’s lack of intensity in the second half led to them getting beat by Brighton, this is one thing the players will need to keep in mind once the international break ends.
