Pep Guardiola seemed visibly delighted after Matheus Nunes clinched Manchester City’s 2-1 victory against Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
Guardiola thanked Bernardo Silva for how he has played in multiple positions for him this season and never looked to cut corners.
However, after Manchester City beat Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports that even if the Sky Blues qualify for the Champions League and win the FA Cup, their season has been a failure: “The season has been bad. It doesn’t matter about the final or if we finish in Champions League.
“What makes you feel good is the Premier League. It happened and sometimes you have bad seasons. Liverpool will be champions and the level of teams is outstanding.”
But Roy Keane disagreed with Guardiola’s admission about Manchester City following their crucial win against Aston Villa.

Roy Keane says Pep Guardiola was “harsh” in calling Man City’s season “bad”
Roy Keane felt that ultimately, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side are a victim of their own standards.
With that being the case, Roy Keane believes even Guardiola and his staff will especially be proud of their players if they secure Champions League football and lift the FA Cup at the end of the season.
The Manchester United legend said on Sky Sports: “I think so and I think the standards they’ve set over the last three or four years and they’ve just come off it, I think he’s been really harsh on his team there with his comments saying it’s not been, well, obviously, not been consistent. They had a tough start, a huge setback with Rodri. And they’ve not been at their very best but that was always going to happen.”
“But I still think if they can win the FA Cup and get in that Champions League, then it’s not bad going. But it’s just because they’ve set the standards so high over the last few years than any sort of drop-off kind of looks bad.”
“But if you step back and I’m sure Pep will with his staff, come the summer and look at the bigger picture, considering all the setbacks and disappointments, we had, even missing [Erling] Haaland tonight, this group of players have dug in.”
Nathan Ake revealed what Pep Guardiola’s mentality is like
Nathan Ake revealed Guardiola is a winner and has a relentless desire to succeed and raise the standards.
Ake said in February last year.” When you play for a club like Manchester City and for a manager like Pep Guardiola, the pressure is always there to succeed. Every single player in the dressing room, every coach and staff member wants to continue the success we have had in recent years.”
“Our hunger to win never goes away and that is why we are fighting to win our fourth consecutive Premier League title. We will fight until the end as we always do.”
Ake continued to discuss Pep Guardiola: “The manager is demanding but that is what gets the best out of us. His enthusiasm and determination to win is relentless and that’s a feeling that is shared by all of us.”
“The training sessions are intense but we all work so hard and put everything into those sessions to give us the best possible chance of getting a positive result in the game.”
“The level of detail and information given to us by the manager and the staff is incredible and it helps us feel prepared before every game.”
As a result, while Pep Guardiola will agree with Roy Keane about being proud of his Manchester City cohort, there would be a fire burning within the Catalan to reach the top again.
Ultimately, this very quality is what makes Guardiola one of the most successful managers in the history of the game.
