Manchester City centre-back Nathan Ake has given an insight into how relentless of a winning mentality Pep Guardiola has.

Recently, Tottenham Hotspur tactician Ange Postecoglou claimed that there will never come a point when the Spaniard is not evolving and looking for ways to get better.

Vincent Kompany perhaps rightly stated that if City had the choice, the club would keep Pep Guardiola as their manager for another two decades.

Nathan Ake says Pep Guardiola has a “relentless” winning mentality

After having finally ended the Sky Blues’ hoodoo in Europe last season by winning the Champions League last season, one can understand if it was assumed that the £378,846-a-week manager felt the job was done at the Etihad Stadium.

The Catalan had managed to cement the club as a true European juggernaut after years of domestic domination.

But Nathan Ake has revealed that Pep Guardiola remains as driven as ever to win at all costs.

“When you play for a club like Manchester City and for a manager like Pep Guardiola, the pressure is always there to succeed. Every single player in the dressing room, every coach and staff member wants to continue the success we have had in recent years”, Guardiola told the club’s official website.

“Our hunger to win never goes away and that is why we are fighting to win our fourth consecutive Premier League title. We will fight until the end as we always do.”

Nathan Ake briefly disclosed how Pep Guardiola helps players like him to maintain high standards.

“The manager is demanding but that is what gets the best out of us. His enthusiasm and determination to win is relentless and that’s a feeling that is shared by all of us.”

“The training sessions are intense but we all work so hard and put everything into those sessions to give us the best possible chance of getting a positive result in the game.”

“The level of detail and information given to us by the manager and the staff is incredible and it helps us feel prepared before every game.”

Manchester City fans would be delighted about what has been said about Pep Guardiola

Despite having achieved as much as this Manchester City side have as a group in recent seasons, the fact that the likes of Nathan Ake and Pep Guardiola are still as motivated as ever to succeed must be music to the ears of their global fanbase.

As Ake revealed, aside from him and his manager, the club as a whole also seem to be striving on a daily basis to replicate their previous successes.

While most teams in the world tend to endure a drop-off in their levels of motivation from season to season, it seems like City is wired by an elite mentality to ensure they stay at the top in a way that not many clubs can perhaps even relate to.
