Vincent Kompany has claimed that Manchester City would be happy to keep Pep Guardiola at their disposal for another 20 years.
With Manchester City set to go toe-to-toe against Burnley on Wednesday, both managers have had a say about each other.
Pep Guardiola also lauded Vincent Kompany due to his knack for improving players under his guidance.

While doing so, the Catalan tactician also mentioned how the Clarets boss was “right” in his assessment of Jeremy Doku, as he was consulted before the youngster was signed by City in the summer.
Now, Vincent Kompany has also said that if given the option, Manchester City would keep Pep Guardiola for another two decades.

“Honestly, it’s the question [about how long Pep Guardiola will manage Manchester City for] that you have to ask him personally. It’s a very personal question. I know from City’s point of view that if you can keep him another 20 years, keep him another 20 years, whatever you need to do to keep him fresh, right?”, he said (via BeanymanSports2’s YouTube channel).
Kompany added, “Honestly, you have to ask him the question. My feeling is always, you see people as superhuman sometimes, although they’re human, sometimes you see them as superhuman. Who am I to discuss any kind of limits to people who are pushing boundaries every day? But I know that those are very, very personal questions.”
“From my side, I wish him and I wish these guys [other top managers] longevity because they make the game better and the rest is so personal.”
Pep Guardiola is already the Sky Blues’ greatest-ever manager
While the likes of Joe Mercer, Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini are remembered for their accolades, the Spanish tactician has dominated like no other manager in the blue side of Manchester.
As a result, Vincent Kompany makes a fair point about Pep Guardiola, in our view, who is arguably the greatest manager in Manchester City history.
Furthermore, as Kyle Walker claimed in September, the two-time treble-winning coach remains one of, if not the best manager in the world.
In addition, there are potentially no managers in world football who look like they could either replicate or even surpass Guardiola’s achievements during their careers.
Taking such factors into consideration, the Sky Blues well and truly have no reason not to be hopeful that the former Bayern Munich boss prolongs his spell at the Etihad Stadium for as long as he pleases, even if he does not commit to the job for another 20 years.
However, it is fair to say that it is highly unlikely that Guardiola will remain the City boss for another two decades.
But if he does, Pep Guardiola could potentially even surpass Sir Alex Ferguson’s legacy at Manchester United.
