Manchester City secured an important 3-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League yesterday and after the game, Roy Keane hailed Ederson for one very important thing he did.

Phil Foden was the headline-maker as he scored two goals in the second-half, after Marcus Rashford gave United the lead.

Erling Haaland then scored in injury-time to wrap up the game, having squandered a golden chance just before half-time.

It was a big win for City after Liverpool had beaten Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Foden is rightly coming in for all kinds of praise, but Roy Keane made sure to give Ederson his due credit for one big contribution yesterday…

It was a dominant performance yesterday from City, and the final scoreline could have easily been a lot bigger.

But United did have a couple of threatening moments, one being when Alejandro Garnacho was played in by Kobbie Mainoo.

The Argentine was sprinting through and it looked like he was going to get there. But Ederson came rushing out and managed to get to the ball.

It was a heavy challenge from the Brazilian, but an absolutely fair one. He played the ball, and his momentum sent Garnacho flying.

It was a challenge Sky pundit Roy Keane loved, as he said after the game: “It ends up being brilliant from the goalkeeper. He has to get that right and I think he does. I really think he does.

“These are really important parts of the game, and he just gets enough on it. If Garnacho could have just got a touch on it before, you’re thinking penalty. But I think that’s brilliant goalkeeping, he gambled.”

Top goalkeeping from Ederson

This was an absolutely brilliant piece of goalkeeping from Ederson.

It is one of the more underrated parts of his game how quick he is off his line. It looked for sure that Garnacho was going to get to the ball first, but the Brazilian got there and made a completely fair tackle.

City play a fairly high line, so Ederson being fast off his line is really important, and thankfully he was extremely focused in that moment.

If he gets that wrong, he concedes a penalty and United potentially go 2-1 ahead. There is also a possibility he gets himself sent off. So it certainly was a huge moment in the game.
