Sam Allardyce has given his take on Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s decision to sell Cole Palmer to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The former West Ham United and Newcastle United manager has raved about Cole Palmer and has given his verdict on the young attacking player’s time at Chelsea so far.
So, what has been said about Cole Palmer, Manchester City, Pep Guardiola and Chelsea?
Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, Cole Palmer is starring at Chelsea at the moment.
Manchester City sold Palmer to Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
City reportedly received an initial transfer fee of £40 million for the 21-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.
Palmer has established himself as one of the best players at Chelsea and is playing regularly for head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The English youngster is also taking penalties and converting them.
Palmer has scored three goals and given two assists in eight Premier League matches for Chelsea this season.
Former England head coach Sam Allardyce has been hugely impressed by Palmer and cannot believe that Guardiola sold him.

Allardyce said about Palmer on No Tippy Tappy Football: “I was surprised that Pep sold him personally.
“Such a young age and such a talent.
“They have even given him the responsibility of penalties.
“That shows you how confident the lad is and can only get better.
“But, of course, he has probably looked at the situation and said, ‘It’s going to be a while before I can consider him for my team with what I have got, and we will cash in on for what was £30 million or £40 million’.
“He has probably got a buyback clause maybe, you know, just in case.
“It’s not often they let somebody, I think, that good leave, and he appears to be that good.”
Cole Palmer no big miss for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City
Yes, Cole Palmer is playing well for Chelsea now and is a big talent, but I do not think that Manchester City are actually missing him.
First of all, Palmer himself wanted to leave City for Chelsea for regular playing time.
It was not as if Guardiola did not want him to stay.
Secondly, there is speculation that Guardiola thinks that Oscar Bobb is a bigger talent than Palmer.
The Daily Star reported last month that City are planning to hand the Norway international forward a new contract worth £36,000 per week.
City are doing well without Palmer and are not missing him at all.
Guardiola’s side are at the top of the Premier League table now and are also at the top of their UEFA Champions League group.
