As Manchester City beat Burnley 3-0 on Friday night, Jamie Carragher lavished praise on to Erling Haaland.

Jamie Carragher left Erling Haaland, who opened the scoring for Manchester City against Burnley within four minutes of the contest.

The Liverpool legend even said after the game that the Norwegian superstar could develop into a striker like Didier Drogba after his dominant all-round display against the Clarets, while branding him as ‘outstanding.’

While the 23-year-old’s opening goal was pure instinct, his second strike was a reminder of the sledgehammer of a left foot he has.

“Erling Haaland, the superstar of the Premier League last season has started where he left off. Rodri does fantastic. There’s three defenders around Haaland but he’s always on his toes and alive. He’s so alert and sharp. That’s the difference at this level”, he said.

This is what separates Erling Haaland from the rest

Jamie Carragher is right in saying that the proactiveness shown by the former Borussia Dortmund talisman to convert the opener is what separates teams like Manchester City and Burnley.

But it also puts the treble-winner in a league of his own in comparison to other strikers as they simply lack the instincts to sniff out chances like this.

Even the best goalscorers in the world currently do not possess the rare eye for goal that Haaland does.

As a result, it is not a coincidence that he is always at the right place and at the right time, as he predatorial instincts in the box are second to none.

Other No.9’s must study Erling Haaland’s game to reach his level at this point.
