Jermain Defoe has now inadvertently called Manchester City No.17 Kevin De Bruyne the best passer in the Premier League when speaking about Harry Kane.
The 41-year-old made the comments when speaking to the On the Judy Podcast.
So, what did Jermaine Defoe say about Kevin De Bruyne? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Londoner was eulogising over Kane and just how special a player he was at Tottenham.
When praising the England international – who now plays for Bayern Munich – Defoe claimed that Kane and De Bruyne were the two best outright passers in the Premier League, suggesting he thinks the Manchester City maestro is now the clear leader in that area.
He said: “This kid can finish. He got sharp, strong, lean, and that was it. All sorts of goals. I would love to play with Harry. It’s almost like he mastered the No.9 role, then mastered a No.10 with assists and how he passed the ball. It was him and Kevin De Bruyne. The two best passers in the Premier League.”

In our view, Kane is a remarkable passer of the ball for someone who is naturally a striker, but there is no way that he can be put on par with De Bruyne in that department.
The Belgium international is simply in a league of his own when it comes to passing.
Manchester City No.17 De Bruyne puts Kane to shame with assists numbers
Of course, passing is not only quantifiable by assists, but in that No.10 role, assists are certainly the best barometer.
In that respect, De Bruyne puts Kane to shame.

The 30-year-old registered 46 assists in 320 Premier League appearances during his time at Tottenham.
In regards to De Bruyne, the Belgian has provided 102 assists in just 243 appearances, clearly proving himself to be the more incisive passer in the final third.
Nevertheless, both are superb footballers of the highest level, and it is a shame that Kane never got the chance to play with the 32-year-old at Manchester City.
