Jeremy Doku started for Manchester City against Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of Jack Grealish.
Former Chelsea striker and BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton was surprised.
But Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison was impressed by the display produced by Jeremy Doku for Manchester City against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The former Crystal Palace forward noted that Doku was very lively.
Praise for Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku vs Brighton and Hove Albion
Morrison said on Sky Sports News (3:15pm, October 21, 2023): “I will tell you one thing.
“This Doku on the left-hand side looks really lively.”
City beat Brighton 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.
The defending champions ended the match with 10 men due to the sending-off of Manuel Akanji in the fifth minute of injury time.

Doku provided the assist for Julian Alvarez’s goal in the seventh minute.
The 21-year-old started as the left winger.
Jack Grealish replaced the youngster in the 75th minute.
Against Brighton, Doku took three shots and one of them was on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 83.8%, took 57 touches, attempted five dribbles, made one tackle, and put in two crosses.
Jeremy Doku could eventually replace Jack Grealish
I believe that Jeremy Doku could eventually replace Jack Grealish in the Manchester City team on a regular basis.
Earlier this season, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola publicly said that he wants Doku and Grealish to fight for the left-wing spot.
Grealish is 28 now and has been at City since 2021.
The England international winger is in his prime years, yet Guardiola is using Doku ahead of him.
I think that this suggests that Guardiola thinks that Doku could eventually replace Grealish in his team on a regular basis.
Of course, we should not forget that Doku is just 21.
The Belgium international joined City only in the summer transfer window.
And, there will be occasions when he will make mistakes.
But, we cannot overlook the fact that the youngster has hit the ground running at City.
Grealish struggled in his first season at City.
Doku has scored one goal and given one assist in 404 minutes in the Premier League and has scored one goal and provided one assist in 64 minutes in the UEFA Champions League for City this season.
