Zack Steffen has now heaped praise on his Manchester City teammate Ederson.

The 28-year-old made the comments when speaking on Total Media’s #OnTheJudy Podcast.

So, what did Zack Steffen say about Ederson? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the £7m United States international admitted that he loves watching the Brazil international kick a ball, and called the Manchester City No.31 “one of the best” in the business.

Steffen said: “He’s one of the best. He’s definitely up there, top two or three. He could play midfield. It’s silly bro. He’s just so chill. It’s crazy man, he’s so laid back. So nonchalant, but his technique, oh it’s unbelievable. It’s so fun to watch him kick a ball.”

You certainly need to have a calm head to play in goal for Pep Guardiola.

Ederson often finds himself in the most bizarre situations for a goalkeeper, whether that’s well out on the halfway line, or even right on his own goal line with an opponent sprinting towards him.

In that respect, it speaks volumes about the South American’s ability that he is rarely caught out by opposition sides, despite arguably having to perform the most demanding role in Guardiola’s setup.

Ederson was a remarkable signing by Manchester City

Plenty of eyebrows were raised when Manchester City spent £34.7m to sign Ederson – who Rio Ferdinand rates higher than Alisson – from Benfica in June 2017.

It was one of the most expensive deals involving a goalkeeper in football history.

Now – however – as Manchester City’s rivals scramble around for a glovesman who can play out from the back, spending millions to find one, that £34.7m purchase from June 2017 now looks like a bargain.

For example, Manchester United have just spent £50m on Andre Onana – who is struggling significantly – while Chelsea splashed £71m on Kepa Arrizabalaga after Ederson arrived in England.

Those are huge fees for goalkeepers who are fairly average – with all due respect – so it was incredible recruitment from Manchester City to find a long term No.1 for just £34.7m who thrives with the ball at his feet.
