Manchester City fans have now reacted after hearing that City Football Academy star Alfie Harrison is moving to Newcastle.

Well – according to The Athletic – the Magpies are closing in on a deal to sign the talented Englishman for an undisclosed fee.

Harrison has excelled in the City Football Academy so far this season, scoring eight goals in just eight U18 Premier League appearances, while also providing four assists.

As a result of his tied back blonde hair and slick finishing skills, the midfielder has also been the subject of comparisons to Erling Haaland.

David Ornstein writes that the 18-year-old is expected to undergo a medical on Tyneside ahead of signing a long term contract with Newcastle.

The Manchester-born prospect follows in the footsteps of Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, Gavin Bazunu and Samuel Edozie in leaving the City Football Academy for another English side.

Paul Midgley – who left Manchester City to become Head of Youth Recruitment at Newcastle back in 2022 – is said to have been instrumental in negotiations, which also included showing Harrison a clear passage into the senior setup under Eddie Howe.

As you can imagine, Manchester City fans are upset by this news – especially as it comes just days after Manchester United poached Omar Berrada from the Etihad Stadium.

One questioned why Manchester City are selling Harrison to a Premier League rival rather than to an overseas club.

Another even described the club’s decision as an “unbelievable” one – clearly, there is plenty of shock about this development on the blue half of Manchester.
