‘Something else’: Gary Lineker says 21-year-old Manchester City player is so ‘different’

Manchester City are doing extremely well at the moment and hammered Bournemouth at home in the Premier League this past weekend.

I expected Manchester City to beat Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League this past Saturday.

However, I did not expect Pep Guardiola’s side to score six goals past the Cherries.

I thought that City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, would win by three or four goals.

Pep Guardiola’s side beat Bournemouth 6-1.

One of the best players for City against Bournemouth was Jeremy Doku.

Doku scored one of the goals for the Citizens and provided as many as four assists.

The 21-year-old Belgium international winger was a force to be reckoned with and produced one of the best individual performances in the Premier League so far this season.

The youngster joined City from Rennes in the summer of 2023.

Doku has scored two goals and given five assists in six starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League.

The winger has scored one goal and provided one assist in one start and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

Gary Lineker praises Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has been hugely impressed with Doku.

The Match of the Day presenter on BBC has noted that the winger brings something different to what City already had.

Lineker said on The Rest is Football Podcast: “Jeremy Doku has settled in very quickly.

“£50 million from Stade Rennais.

“He gives them something else, doesn’t he?

“He is a different kind of player than they had before.

“He is an out-and-out jinky little winger, isn’t he?”

My View: Jeremy Doku could become world class

I believe that Manchester City and Belgium international winger Jeremy Doku could become a world-class player under manager Pep Guardiola.

We know that Guardiola improves and develops players.

Just look at Bernardo Silva, who is one of the best attacking players on the planet and has become world class because of Guardiola.

Doku is very good with the ball at his feet, is quick, runs directly at opposition players, picks the right passes, and can score too.

The sky is the limit for the winger.
