It has now been reported that Kyle Walker, who has seemed destined for a transfer to Bayern Munich could sign a contract extension at Manchester City.
This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed on Monday that the £50 million (Guardian) man was in ‘advanced talks’ to sign for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Now, it seems like Kyle Walker could well extend his contract at Manchester City and snub a move to Bayern Munich.
Kyle Walker ‘in talks’ over new Manchester City contract amid Bayern interest
The England international was reported to be ‘unhappy’ due to a reduced amount of playing time during City’s treble-winning season.
Additionally, it was also revealed that after being dropped from the Sky Blues’ starting XI for the Champions League final, he was left with a feeling of a ‘huge disappointment.’
While it seemed like Kyle Walker was now set to embark on a new journey at Bayern Munich, it has been revealed that he is ‘in talks’ with Manchester City over signing a contract extension beyond 2024.

The Italian journalist has claimed that while the German side are still keen on signing the veteran, there is ‘still a possibility’ stay he prolongs his love affair at the Etihad Stadium.
Having Kyle Walker for an additional season at least would be a huge boost
While Kyle Walker may be past his absolute prime, it still helps Manchester City a lot if he signs a new contract and turns down a move to Bayern for several reasons.
For starters, it is next to impossible to replace arguably the best 1v1 full-back in the world, especially as City are expected to face the likes of Real Madrid and PSG that possess the likes of Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe.
To add to that, splitting playing time with the England international will also aid Rico Lewis’ gradual embedding into the side as his successor.
Plus, with the likes of established players such as Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte all linked with exits, the retention of such a crucial leader is more important than it seems at face value.
