Owen Hargreaves believes Manchester City would love to sign Jamal Musiala, as Rio Ferdinand tipped the ‘fantastic’ youngster to win a Ballon d’Or one day.

Musiala – linked with City again at the weekend – shone for Bayern Munich in their Champions League game with Lazio on Tuesday night, helping his side to a comfortable 3-0 win.

The Bavarian giants were able to turn things around, having lost the first-leg 1-0.

Harry Kane was at the double for Thomas Tuchel’s side, with Thomas Muller also getting on the scoresheet.

The silky Musiala misplaced just one pass all evening (44/45), with four of those being ‘key’.

Recently, there was been some more talk about Manchester City showing interest in Musiala, and Owen Hargreaves reckons Pep Guardiola would definitely want him…

Hargreaves and Ferdinand both spoke about Musiala ahead of Bayern’s game with Lazio on Tuesday.

It has been another fine campaign from the former Chelsea player, who has made 29 appearances and scored nine goals and made four assists.

Apparently, City and Liverpool are the two clubs in the best position to sign Musiala, who could cost in the region of £80 million.

Bayern want him to sign a new contract but so far, the player has been unwilling, which could see him move on in the summer.

Hargreaves believes Musiala is a player any club in the world would want. He said on TNT: “Everybody would want him because he walks into literally every team: Real Madrid, Man City, I think he plays for everyone.

“He rarely ever loses the ball, which is crazy. Normally technical players further up the pitch turn over the ball a lot, but Jamal just has a feel for it. He’s a super special player.”

Ferdinand added: “This guy has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or. I’ve said it before, he has the potential to do that if the path goes the right way for him and he’s in a successful team. That’s the platform and foundation for that.”

Musiala would be an amazing by City

Musiala is a top player and it would be no surprise if won a Ballon d’Or one day – he is that good.

His situation will be interesting to watch this summer. If there remains no willingness to extend at Bayern then the Bavarians may well listen to offers for the midfielder before his market value starts decreasing.

He likely won’t be short of suitors.

It would be amazing if City managed to sign him, because that incredible technical ability of his would surely see him be a perfect fit.

Guardiola is said to believe that Musiala can become the best in the world in his position, so the Spaniard is surely keen to get him in.
