Manchester City star Phil Foden has grabbed a lot of headlines over the past few months.

In addition to finding the back of the net 19 times and delivering eight assists in 35 Premier League appearances last season, the 24-year-old was named the FWA Player of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Season.

Foden then went on to play a prominent role in England’s journey to the final of the 2024 European Championship.

More recently, the Englishman has found himself being compared to one of his former City teammates, which has since led to one pundit weighing in on this particular topic.

Tony Cascarino addresses recent comparison between Phil Foden and Cole Palmer

After Jason Cundy suggested that he thinks Cole Palmer is better than Foden, Tony Cascarino had this to say about the two players in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel.

He said: “Palmer has done incredibly well in a shorter period. Foden has done it over six years and is a regular winner. He was the Football Writers’ Player of the Year this year or last season. He has had an incredible ride.”

Foden vs Palmer

With just one season under his belt at Chelsea, Palmer has scored 25 goals and delivered 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

In comparison, Foden has scored 87 goals and provided 53 assists in 270 senior appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side in all competitions, lifting numerous domestic and European trophies along the way.

With the significant experience he has, as Cascarino mentioned, we feel that Foden is much more refined as a top-level player than Palmer, who has undoubtedly benefited from being a regular player at Chelsea.

In our view, the duo are definitely top talents and will go on to be vital figures for their sides and for England in the future.
