Manchester City fans won’t forget the struggles of the 2024/25 season in a hurry.

The current campaign has been a very difficult one for Pep Guardiola and the players, after having so much success previously.

It was perhaps inevitable that Manchester City would eventually start to drop off, with players getting older.

That has certainly been the case this season, with City miles off the pace in terms of a Premier League title challenge.

At the moment, City remain in a tough battle to secure Champions League football.

In an ideal world, that and an FA Cup triumph will be how the club finish the 2024/25 campaign.

There have been a lot of issues this season, and one of the most significant ones has come out of losing Rodri to a long-term knee injury.

But now, there’s been a development with the Spaniard that has delighted some fans.

Fans delighted as Rodri finally returns to Man City training

Rodri sustained knee ligament damage against Arsenal back in September, shortly before he won the Ballon d’Or.

City fans feared the worst seeing him hobble off, and those fears were confirmed soon after.

Yesterday, though, Rodri was finally spotted back in training with his teammates, having previously been doing individual work, which is a big step.

It has been a gruelling rehabilitation process for Rodri, but he is now back in the picture for City and his return to match action is not far off.

And inevitably, that news has gone down extremely well with City fans on social media.

When Rodri could actually return to match action for Man City

Pictures of Rodri being back in training for City are certainly most welcome.

Without doubt, he is City’s most important player and his absence this season has been felt massively.

City fans love that he’s back in training, but the chances of seeing him feature for City in any of the remaining Premier League games are slim.

Sky Sports have reported that the Club World Cup is a more realistic return date for Rodri, so him having any involvement in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace is unlikely.

City’s first game of that competition is against Wydad AC on June 18.
