Gary Neville thinks he has spotted a clue about when Manchester City could hear the result of the Premier League’s 115 charges against them.

The 48-year-old made the comments when speaking on the Stick To Football podcast.

So, what did Gary Neville say about Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

Gary Neville makes Manchester City hearing claim

Well, the Sky Sports pundit believes Manchester City’s hearing may not take place for some time yet after Richard Masters – Chief Executive of the Premier League – failed to give a specific date.

Neville said: “I would like to see an amendment to FFP (Financial Fair Play). It was brought in by the elite clubs to protect the elite clubs and I don’t like it in its essence. I think there needs to be a change. One of the diversion tactics, you could call it a diversion tactic, is that they say they are only picking on the smaller clubs and what about Man City?

“That’s the big elephant in the room really in the sense that City’s charges haven’t been brought forward, accepting it’s a lot more complex. I was uncomfortable that Richard Masters said there had been a date set, but he couldn’t explain when the date was. That told me – and maybe I’m wrong here – that we are not going to like the date, that it is going to be in June, July or next summer, beyond this season. I think it’s in the interests of City and everybody to bring that case forward. It can’t go on, because it is damaging to the Premier League and the game generally.”

Manchester City need this to be resolved quickly

The longer this situation hangs over Manchester City, the more people will diminish what the Citizens achieve under Pep Guardiola.

In that respect, Neville is right – the sooner this is resolved for Manchester City, the better.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are confident of clearing their name and proving themselves innocent, so if that truly is the feeling within the Etihad Stadium, then why not begin the hearing as soon as possible?
