After Manchester City defeated Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, Garth Crooks lavished praise upon Ederson Moraes’ display.
In his Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport, the outspoken pundit gave his verdict on the £35 million (Eurosport) man.
Garth Crooks firmly believes that Manchester City No.1 Ederson is the best goalkeeper in the world on the ball after his phenomenal showing against Manchester United.
Garth Crooks says Ederson is ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’ on the ball after Manchester City beat Manchester United
Branded as ‘incredible’ by Andy Townsend, he too held this opinion about the Brazilian international.
Once again on Sunday, the 30-year-old’s distribution was glorious as he constantly took out a number of United players by picking out a free City player.
Garth Crooks lauded Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson as he shone against Manchester United.

“The save by Ederson from Scott McTominay in Sunday’s Manchester derby was superb. The Manchester City goalkeeper didn’t have to lift a finger for long spells, such was the dominance of City’s possession but the moment the Brazilian was called upon, he produced something quite special. The save was a game changer”, he said.
Garth Crooks continued to shower Ederson with praise after Manchester City beat Manchester United.
“City have such long periods with the ball that it needs an exceptional keeper to keep his concentration and remain engaged with the fixture. What’s more, Ederson is without doubt the best goalkeeper in the world when it comes to the utilisation of the ball with his feet.”
Ederson often goes under the radar for his brilliance
Garth Crooks was right to shine light on Ederson, who was typically excellent against Manchester United.
As Crooks rightly pointed out, first things first, the clutch save made by the treble-winner is the mark of an elite goalkeeper, considering he stepped up in a game where his side were barely tested at the back.
But even on the ball, Ederson was magnificent, almost operating as a deep-lying playmaker the way he was spraying passes, taking City’s build-up play to another level due to his flawless distribution.
The decorated goalkeeper has always been elite on the ball but even as a shotstopper, he has improved massively and yet, his incredible displays do not often get heralded like they deserve to be.
