Manchester City have confirmed the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders.

Manchester City have made their fourth signing of the summer, bringing in the midfielder from AC Milan just in time for the Club World Cup.

City made two additions on Tuesday in the form of Rayan Cherki and Marcus Bettinelli, with Rayan Ait-Nouri arriving on Monday.

Pep Guardiola has now added Tijjani Reijnders, who has the potential to be an extremely important signing.

City struggled massively in the midfield areas in 2024/25, although the loss of Rodri was a big reason for that.

But City lacked goals from deeper areas, and Reijnders will potentially be a solution to this problem after scoring 15 goals in 2024/25.

City fans are relieved that Reijnders has been announced and are now looking forward to watching him play – and one player will be absolutely key for the new signing in these next few months.

Hopes are high at City for Reijnders.

He just completed a fantastic season over in Italy with AC Milan, and was named Serie A midfielder of the season.

Milan had a disappointing season as a collective, finishing in eighth. But Reijnders excelled, and will hopefully now make a seamless transition.

Reijnders has given his first interview as a new City player, and has already suggested he’ll be sticking close to Nathan Ake, who he knows very well from the Netherlands national team.

Reijnders said: “No, not yet, I’ve only been here two times but I didn’t see the city unfortunately so I will explore it together with my family when we are here after the World Cup. We are happy to be here and of course, I also get a lot of help from Nathan Ake.”

Ake is clearly delighted Reijnders has come to the Etihad Stadium.

The defender reacted with the ‘👀🙌🏾’ emojis on City’s, the Premier League’s and Reijnders’ joint-post about the announcement.

Reijnders has previously stated he’s spoken to Ake about a move to Man City, and the likelihood is that the number 6 was key in helping to convince him.

City fans can’t wait to watch Reijnders in action, and will get the chance to do so at the Club World Cup.

And Reijnders himself is also keen to get going under Pep Guardiola, who he also spoke about in his first interview: “Yeah, it’s a great chance for me, I followed him since he was coaching Barcelona and how he played there.

“It’s something that made me really excited to join Manchester City.”

Hopefully, Reijnders will be able to settle in nice and quickly with the help of Ake and hit the ground running in 2025/26.

Undoubtedly, if he can continue scoring goals from midfield like he did with Milan last season, it will help City’s cause massively.
