Pep Guardiola has now shared what the Manchester City players sometimes speak about in the dressing room.

The 52-year-old was speaking in his press conference ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against BSC Young Boys.

So, what did Pep Guardiola say about his Manchester City players? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Spaniard claimed that his players sometimes speak about the fact that Manchester City have never won the FIFA Club World Cup, as the Citizens aims to put that right in Saudi Arabia next month.

The Manchester Evening News quote Guardiola as saying: “We’ve never been there before. It’s hard to win the Champions League and they did it. I have been three times there before. The first game is so tricky. People talk about the final. I struggled with Barcelona the first two times to do it.

“We will get there and prepare, because for us, this is a dream. The club doesn’t have the trophy so sometimes the players talk about that in the locker room. I know they will want to add something prestigious to their career that they never had.”

The winners of the UEFA Champions League are automatically entered into the FIFA Club World Cup.

Manchester City will then take on the winners of the Asian Champions League, the African Champions League, CONCACAF Champions Cup, the CONMEBOL Libertadores, 2023 OFC Champions League and the 2022/23 Saudi Professional League.

They are Urawa Red Diamonds, Al Ahly, León, Auckland City, Al-Ittihad and Fluminense.

Manchester City may have already shown sign they are confident about winning FIFA Club World Cup

There was an interesting detail spotted in a recent Inside City episode after Guardiola returned from his back surgery.

After 20 seconds passes in the video, podiums can be seen holding Manchester City’s Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup trophies.

However, there was a fifth podium in the shot, which Manchester City left empty.

Therefore, it could be argued that the Citizens are saving that place for the FIFA Club World Cup.

It is sure to be a very difficult tournament for Manchester City, although Guardiola’s men have the quality to win the prestigious trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
