Cesc Fabregas has said that Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger are quite similar.
Speaking to the Coaches’ Voice, the retired midfielder gave his two cents on working with the pair of legendary managers.
According to Cesc Fabregas, Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger were identical in terms of certain approaches they shared.
Cesc Fabregas says Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger are ‘the same’ in some ways
Branded as ‘ruthless’ by the i Newspaper, the Manchester City boss coached his fellow countryman during his time at Barcelona.
Despite being considered as the greatest coach of his generation by Ilkay Gundogan amongst many, it was the Arsenal manager who got the best out of the Spanish technician.
Now, Cesc Fabregas has delved into what makes Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger extremely similar.

“Pep was the same. In some ways, at least. The two see football in the same way, and their training sessions were quite similar. When I spoke to Pep at Barcelona even before I signed the contract, he told me what he wanted from me.”
“To come and play in the way, the ‘pequeñitos’ – the small, technical players play”, Fabregas said.
Not a surprise to hear Cesc Fabregas make this revelation
Considering Arsenal were considered as a lesser version of Barcelona at the time, one can see why Cesc Fabregas saw similarities in Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola.
Much like the latter, the former was also known to prioritise a possession-dominant style of play, which was renowned as being extremely easy on the eye.
Plus, Wenger, much like Guardiola also used to fancy playing immensely technical players in his sides, especially in the middle of the park.
Cesc Fabregas, having worked with the pair and come through the La Masia academy is the ideal candidate to make such a comparison, which cannot be faulted when given a fair amount of consideration.
