Manchester City have enjoyed a superb summer on the transfer front so far, securing the services of four players ahead of the Club World Cup.
Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders have all joined Manchester City over the past few days.
Indeed, City are close to making it five. City are now set to sign Sverre Nypan after reaching an agreement with Rosenborg over the midfield prodigy.
However, despite City’s success in the market, one transfer rumour did the rounds which apparently left club insiders “very angry”.

Manchester City ‘very angry’ over speculation of Florian Wirtz talks
Lewis Steele, the Liverpool correspondent for the Daily Mail, recently spoke about Florian Wirtz, who City were heavily linked with but who is now closing in on a move to Anfield.
Steele, speaking on YouTube prior to the Wirtz deal being struck, said he always had a feeling Wirtz was going to go to Liverpool.
He then said City “got very angry” with journalists over reports suggesting they had met with Wirtz.
“Now, he decided that he wanted Liverpool,” said Steele.
“The day after that Manchester City got very angry at journalists saying he met Florian Wirtz.
“I was having a few beers in Liverpool one night and an article went out about City and Wirtz.
“A few sources, nothing to do with Liverpool, came to me and said ‘this is just not true, there’s no truth whatsoever that he’s had talks with City’.
“City later must’ve briefed that Wirtz wasn’t going to City.”
Manchester City have moved on
Pep Guardiola was said to be desperately keen on signing Wirtz ahead of Kevin De Bruyne’s departure.
However, it was reported that City decided not to sign Wirtz as they reckon he’d go on to cost around £252million in total, including wages.
That said, City have very much moved on, bringing in three new midfielders – for the present and for the future.
Reijnders and Cherki are both expected to go into the first team, while Nypan is set to head out on loan after signing for the Citizens.
It’ll be exciting to see how City fare next season, having made so many top signings already – indeed, it’ll be interesting to see how the team does at the Club World Cup.
