Manchester City have been very active throughout the opening phase of the 2025 summer transfer window.
Pep Guardiola planned to bring in four to five new players ahead of the summer as part of the legendary coach’s rebuild at the Etihad Stadium, and the Spaniard has already reached that number.
The £48m transfer of Tijjani Reijnders has been Man City’s most expensive signing so far. Who followed Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Marcus Bettinelli to Manchester, as all four are now part of Guardiola’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.
City are now set to complete the signing of a fifth player this summer as the Manchester outfit have reached an agreement with Rosenborg for their 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan.

Manchester City will pay £12.5m to sign Sverre Nypan
It was reported on Wednesday that Man City were close to agreeing a transfer fee for Nypan with Rosenborg, and a day later, an agreement has been reached.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, City have reached an agreement to sign the 18-year-old midfielder for a transfer fee of £12.5m (€14.6m), which has no further contingencies or sell-on clauses.
The report states that personal terms still need to be finalised with Nypan, who will put pen to paper on a Man City contract until 2030.
The Norwegian star is set to go out on loan next season once his move to Man City gets over the line, with the City Football Group expected to send the youngster to play in La Liga with Girona.
This is a big coup for the Manchester outfit as several other clubs, such as Aston Villa and Arsenal, showed interest in the Rosenborg star.
It was expected that the youngster would be a record sale for the Norwegian league; however, the £12.5m (€14.6m) falls a little short.

Biggest sales in Eliteserien history
In Nypan, Man City are signing the youngest player to score in a league match for Rosenborg when he netted at the age of just 16 years and 145 days old in May 2023.
The Premier League club will hope the Norwegian star brings out the best in his countryman, Oscar Bobb, as the midfielder can be very creative from the middle of the park.
There is a reason why the 18-year-old is costing Man City so much; however, the Rosenborg star’s fee falls short of the £17m (€20m) Chelsea paid Lyn for John Obi Mikel.
| Player | Transfer fee | Club left | Club joined |
| John Obi Mikel | €20m | Lyn | Chelsea |
| Albert Gronbaek | €15m | Bodo/Glimt | Rennes |
| Sverre Nypan | €14.6m | Rosenborg | Man City |
| David Datro Fofana | €12m | Molde | Chelsea |
| Henrik Meister | €9m | Sarpsborg 08 | Rennes |
Only time will tell if Nypan was worth the money paid, and Man City will get somewhat of an answer next season as the Norwegian will look to impress from the get-go at Girona.
