Garth Crooks lavished praise upon Manchester City attacker Phil Foden after his side’s 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest.

So much so that the outspoken pundit named the 23-year-old in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.

It’s safe to say that Garth Crooks was mesmerised by Phil Foden, who ran the show for Manchester City against Nottingham Forest.

Branded as ‘unreal’ by Rio Ferdinand, the Englishman opened the scoring on Saturday in style, getting on the end of a deft Kyle Walker pass by walloping a half-volley past Matt Turner.

Even aside from the goal, Foden simply picked up the ball any and everywhere on the pitch and dictated proceedings from start to finish, especially with his sumptuous passing in the final third.

“We are six games into the season and Foden has only scored one goal for City. You wouldn’t have thought so the way he struck his shot to put the league champions ahead against Nottingham Forest. City at this stage looked imperious.”

Phil Foden has started the season in brilliant fashion

Garth Crooks made the right call by picking the treble-winner in his side as he starred for Manchester City against Nottingham Forest.

The Englishman proved once again that he is comfortable in possession in every single phase, dancing past opponents, controlling the tempo in deeper areas whilst also being a menace in the final third.

With a goal and three assists in five league starts this campaign, the Stockport-born technician is thriving in a more central role.

Even in games where Foden has not registered a goal or an assist, his all-round displays have been class and one only expects him to up his levels as the season progresses.
