Theo Walcott has admitted that he is still surprised one player is at Manchester City.

One player whose signing emerged as a surprise is Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Pep Guardiola wanted to sign Donnarumma in 2017, which quashes all the question marks about whether he would deem the Italian good enough to play in his system on the ball.

However, the 26-year-old has made a strong start to his time at Manchester City.

Theo Walcott admits he is surprised Gianluigi Donnarumma is at Man City

Speaking during The Overlap’s podcast, It’s Called Soccer, Theo Walcott was full of praise for Donnarumma.

His teammates agree as well, with Erling Haaland describing Donnarumma as “amazing” and backing him to become a “massively important” player for Manchester City.

Theo Walcott said: “But he is exceptional and you’re right, it’s an absolute snip. I just can’t believe he’s at Man City to be fair.”

“I think that’s incredible business.”

Considering Manchester City signed Donnarumma for £30 million, it is a surprise that there was not much interest in him.

Why Man United didn’t even bid for Gianluigi Donnarumma

Real Madrid chose not to sign Donnarumma because they have Thibaut Courtois on their books.

However, Manchester United were keen on signing Donnarumma.

Ultimately, the treble-winning shot-stopper ended up making a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United did not bid for Donnarumma because of his wages.
