Rennes manager Bruno Genesio has added fuel to the fire over Jeremy Doku, suggesting that an exit for the Manchester City target is getting nearer.
Doku is thought to be a player on City’s radar.
The club lost Riyad Mahrez to Al Ahli recently, and are understood to be in the market for a new wide player.
Phil Foden has just shown how good he is the middle of the park.
And so, this perhaps means that Bernardo Silva is now the only viable option to play on the right.
Doku is a target for City and Genesio recently suggested that the player could be sold for a fee in the region of £43.1 million.
Genesio has now made some more comments about the player, and it does look like his exit is on track…
Bruno Genesio comments on Jeremy Doku after dropping him to the bench
Rennes could only draw 1-1 with Lens yesterday in Ligue 1, and after the game, Genesio spoke about winger Doku.
Interestingly, Doku started the game on the bench.

He was sent on by Genesio just after the hour mark.
Given the current speculation about Doku, and his status as one of Rennes players, Genesio was always likely to be asked about his decision post-match.
He said (via RMC Sport): “He has a great opportunity, with a little more lucidity, if he stings her… he can also give it to Kalimuendo.
Genesio was then asked ‘But he will continue to progress?’. He replied: “Where? (smiles) If he has not started today it is because… There you go. We’ll see. Because he was one of the best players in the game last week, it’s up to you to draw the conclusions. Nothing is done.”
Doku to Man City could be in the offing
Surely there is something in the offing with Doku.
It seems strange that Genesio would bench Doku given he is one of Rennes’ best players.
It points to something happening with him in the transfer window.

But City are not the only team interested in Doku.
West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have all been linked with the Belgium international in recent days.
