Micah Richards believes Manchester City may have another future superstar in the making in Oscar Bobb.

The pundit recalled his experience of watching Bobb in action for the Sky Blues during their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup this season.

Despite the result, Richards was blown away by the Manchester City wonderkid, as he revealed during the latest episode of The Rest Is Football podcast.

Micah Richards left seriously impressed by Oscar Bobb

In December, Phil Foden admitted that the Norwegian international is similar to him in terms of his playing style and praised his impact in the first-team this season.

The 20-year-old has played across a multitude of positions for Pep Guardiola’s men this campaign, be that on either flank, in midfield or even up front in spells.

Micah Richards has clearly liked what he has seen from Oscar Bobb, saying, “They have an enormous squad full of, whether that be young, top players or top professionals, you know what I mean? Like if you look at City’s 13, 14 [best players], you’ll probably say world-class and then, you’ve got some superstar youngsters ready to fill the void like Oscar Bobb.”

“Oh my god. I saw him in Newcastle away in the League Cup and he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. They just keep finding them and finding them, so it’s always going to be difficult for anyone trying to compete with Man City because they’re so good”, he said on The Rest Is Football podcast.

Oscar Bobb showcased his tactical intelligence against Sheffield United

Micah Richards must have perhaps also been gobsmacked by how excellent Oscar Bobb was in Manchester City’s 2-0 victory against Sheffield United.

Replacing Jack Grealish in the second half, it was interesting to see Pep Guardiola utilise the teenager on the left wing.

However, Oscar Bobb looked right at home, playing a gorgeous pass into Phil Foden’s path, who went on to set up Julian Alvarez’s strike.

Bobb looked like a natural left-winger, as his eye for a pass, understanding of knowing when to dribble and to retain possession was inch-perfect.

The youngster’s display was proof of his rare footballing brain, which allows him to make his mark in such a variety of roles.
